Unique to our collection of fine private residences for rent, Maison Cézanne is a renovated 18th-century bastide which has enjoyed much success as an award-winning B&B. Set in a stunning private park of 2.5 enclosed acres, yet within a fifteen minute stroll to the center of Aix-en-Provence, we are pleased to offer this property for exceptional weekly rental for select dates year-round.
A long and most impressive centennial tree-lined drive leads to the property. The 5 m X 25 m (16’ x 82’) fenced pool with infinity edge is surrounded by picture perfect lawn and accented by four stone fountains. There is a pool house with an awning and plenty of outdoor furniture. There are several outdoor dining areas, including an open wrought-iron gazebo with marble-topped table for four, and benches dot the formal gardens of rose bushes, cypress trees, and flowering shrubs, beckoning renters to take in multiple perspectives of the tranquil park, the exceptional trees and the traditional house they frame.
A large hall opens to a salon with fireplace, the dining room beyond and a graceful stairway to the bedrooms on the upper levels. The common areas are spacious and inviting. The dining room has a broad farm table for twelve and the warmly finished salon is sure to be appreciated by guests and serve as the gathering spots for many memorable moments at this special property. The large well-equipped kitchen is across from the dining room, and outside on a flagstone terrace that runs the length of the façade of the building, are two additional eating areas, each with a table for six. For the rare rainy day or a quiet night staying in, the library and multi-media room will serve as the perfect spot for reading, watching TV or use of the computer with high-speed Internet access and printer available for guest use.

Covering more than 10 acres of green space adjacent to Maison Cezanne is the Parc de la Torse, with a lovely walking path that is favored by runners and families with babies in strollers alike. A full loop takes about 90 minutes. From the house, a walk of 20 minutes along bustling streets brings you the Boulevard Mirabeau at the center of Aix, with its famous fountains and outdoor cafes. Aix-en-Provence has markets on multiple days of the week and an interesting pedestrian-only shopping district. With its important university and tall, picturesque buildings, the town has a year-round life unusual for this region better known for sleepy villages. Numerous shops for daily commerce are within easy walking distance of the property. The contrast between the bustle of the small city just beyond the gates and the tranquility of the park-like grounds of Maison Cezanne is quite striking. Access to the Autoroute for quick trips to Avignon, Marseille, Saint-Tropez or Nice is just a few minutes by car.
Equally suited to families with children or a group of couples in search of equal sleeping accommodations, Maison Cézanne offers the unique opportunity to have both the feel of a countryside property with grounds and a large pool as well as the ability to walk to the center of one of the most visited cities in the South of France and home to undoubtedly one of the most well-known and celebrated Impressionists, Paul Cézanne.
